Sweden Reports First Ostreid Herpesvirus Outbreak

SWEDEN - An outbreak of ostreid herpesvirus-1 microvariant has been reported in farmed oysters.

All 15,000,000 Pacific oysters at the closed salt water farm, in Sydkoster, Strömstad were effected and died.

This is the first time that infection with ostreid herpesvirus-1 microvariant has been detected in Sweden. The source of the outbreak has yet to be determined.
