Kefalonia Fisheries farms sea bream (Sparus aurata), sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and meagre (Argyrosomus regius).
Only floating cages with a semi-automatic feeding system are installed in order to reduce the impact on the surrounding ecosystem. The distance between cages and seabed allows for seabed protection. Neither Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) nor growth hormones are used.
An efficient traceability system is in place, so that fishes are fully traced from eggs, throughout their life’s history on the farms, to the product line.
The two production sites are located on the island of Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian Islands, between Italy and Greece.
The company produces and sells 8 million fries and over 3000 tons of fish per year. Over 80 per cent of the production is exported, mainly to France, Italy and Germany as well as the United Arab Emirates and the USA.
