This important milestone in the development of the ASC standard also signals an incredibly busy period for FCI in the global aquaculture sector with the company heavily involved in a wide range of assessment contracts for a variety of standards, including GlobalG.A.P. IFA v4 for species such as trout, sea bass and sea bream, and the GlobalG.A.P. Compound Feed Manufacturers v2 Standard.

James Allan, Aquaculture Manager for FCI, said: Our selection by ASC to carry out pilot trials on the ASC Salmon Standard is direct recognition of FCIs knowledge and experience in aquaculture certification.

We are also delighted that we are now an accredited certifier for the new ASC Chain of Custody scope and it provides a useful addition to our already comprehensive portfolio of certification services.

The surge in activity in the aquaculture sector for FCI has also resulted in the company now looking to recruit a number of additional contracted self-employed aquaculture auditors over the coming weeks to cover this growing range of services.

James Allan added: The range and scope of our aquaculture activities are increasing all the time. While continuing to develop current market regions within the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Europe and Turkey, we are now also active in Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central and South America.
