Spain's Average Fish Consumption on the Up

SPAIN - Spain's per capita consumption of fish has increased by 1.8 per cent, with an average of 26.8 kg per person per year being eaten.

Fresh fish are consumed in the home, accounting for 44.6 per cent of the total, followed by seafood and canned fish.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment has prepared a study on the consumption of fishery products in homes during 2013, which shows that Spaniards spend 13.12 per cent of their shopping budgets on fish. This means an average of €200 per person per year, a cost that has increased by four per cent from 2012.
