The Carmelle #6, which is based in Pubnico, Nova Scotia, achieved its large catch of redfish over a four-day fishing period. Skipper Aubrey d’Entremont was joined on the fishing trials by Michel Dagorn of Morgère and Paul La-Pierre of North Atlantic Marine, Morgère’s agent in Canada.
The PV3 is a relatively new design of trawl door that was launched in 2010 and which has already been fished with great success by fishermen in northern Europe, including Scotland and Iceland.
Skipper d’Entremont said: “I am very pleased with the results of these fishing trials and the PV3 fished well all the time. They are very well built doors that maintained a consistent spread, even when the door angle was reduced.
“I am appreciative of the support and technical advice from Morgère and North Atlantic Marine during these trials and will continue to work closely with them both in the future.”
Michel Dagorn said: “The results were excellent and much credit for this success must go to Aubrey d’Entremont who showed great skill and knowledge during these fishing trials. We are confident that the PV3 is ideally suited for Canadian Atlantic fisheries and we are now looking forward to working with other local skippers.”
