Nova Scotia Lobster Harvesters Fined

CANADA - Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Gulf Region, has announced two Nova Scotia lobster harvesters have been fined by Judge Richard MacKinnon for violations under the Fisheries Act. The fines total C$3,610.

Evan McDormand of Westport pleaded guilty to harvesting lobster without a licence and to obstructing a fishery officer. He received a $1,600 fine.

Dale Trenholm of Bayfield pleaded guilty to harvesting lobster without a licence. He was fined $2,010.

Conservation measures exist to protect and rebuild fish stocks so that fish resources are sustainable for generations to come.
