The document, prepared by the National Fisheries Institute (INAPESCA), presents the study of eight new species considered important for production and trade, which will add to the 22 already considered in the two previous editions of the Letter published in January 2011 and July 2012, respectively.
Integrated species in this third edition of the CNA are siphon clam, red snapper, oyster, spotted rose snapper, sea cucumber in the Caribbean, sea cucumber in the Pacific, Gulf pink shrimp, crappie castarrica and Snook.
The CNA provides producers with information on better farming techniques, health and aquaculture management practices. It is also an instrument that guides farmers on the conditions under which activities must be performed, such as seed production and fattening processes, which will improve production levels and become more competitive in the market.
The National Aquaculture Charter consists of factsheets on the generalities for listed aquatic resources, such as the common and scientific names, their geographical distribution, biological (morphology, life cycle), grow-out techniques.
The content of this third edition also includes a new section that sets out studies on potential aquaculture areas like Carmen lagoon system - Grassland - Tomboy, located in the hydrologic region Grijalva - Usumacinta Tabasco.
