New EU-Morocco Fisheries Protocol a Priority for Spain

SPAIN - The Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Miguel Arias Caete, has stressed that the new fisheries protocol between the EU-Morocco is "a priority" for the Spanish Government.

The protocol is important for the development and continuity of Spanish-Moroccan bilateral relations, said the Minister.

Mr Arias Cañete, has indicated that he is convinced that "the new protocol will be key to strengthening the good relations existing in the fisheries sector."

"We can all be pleased with the work done on the protocol. The new protocol will have a clearly positive effect for the fishing interests of both countries and will fully meet the mandate given by the EU Council of Fisheries Ministers," he added.

The Minister stressed how the conclusion of the most recent meeting "is a clear sign of the importance that the fishing industry has for Spain and to Morocco".
