More than 100 Varieties of Mexican Fish and Seafood in Season

MEXICO - During the season of Lent and Easter, more than 100 varieties of seafood are available, such as tilapia, squid, mackerel, sardine and tuna, among others, said the national commissioner of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Mario Aguilar Snchez.

He stressed the main number of species consumers have at their disposal, since you can buy from 15 pesos to 55 pesos per kilogram.

Exemplified from the Pacific, Caribbean and Mexican Gulf this season are species at 15 pesos per kilo, as lebrancha, at 20 pesos, mackerel and cojinuda, at 25 pesos, smooth fin ray, and 35, sold the species flag.

Based on a price list provided by the New Market of the beam, also said that the average cost of a kilogram of tilapia is 40 pesos; dogfish, 48; Sierra Pacific, 55, and Sierra Gulf, 65 pesos.

The National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries said tilapia, catfish, carp and trout are also available, which are captured by Mexican fishermen in reservoirs inland.
