MEXICO - Mexico and China are to cooperate in the scientific and technical aspects of aquaculture and fisheries. This agreement aims to potentiate the aquaculture industry and establish common health protocols that allow fluid trade between the two countries.

The Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) and the Academy of Fishery Sciences of China (CAFS) established the link prior to the visit of the Mexican President of the Republic, Enrique Peña Nieto, to China.

In the last three years, aquaculture in Mexico has grown 14 per cent higher than the world average recorded by the Food and Agriculture Organization.

As part of activities between the two governments, the China delegation will visit the state of Sinaloa, which is the most developed area for shrimp farming in ??Mexico and Latin America.
