Looking To A Successful Fishing 2011

UK - A former Peterhead-based skipper will be spearheading the drive to attract exhibitors and visitors to the Fishing 2011 exhibition in Glasgow

David Moir, who was formerly the skipper of the whitefish seine netter Ajax (INS168), has been recruited by exhibition organiser QD Events to use his fishing experience and knowledge to attract new exhibitors to the show and help plan its content.

A well-known figure in the north-east fishing industry, Lossiemouth born David retired from the sea in 2004 when he then embarked upon a career in sales, supplying lubricating oils to the marine industry.

“I have attended the fishing exhibition annually for about 20 years, both as a visitor and an exhibitor, which has given me an excellent perspective on the requirements for delivering a successful show,” he said.

“The Fishing exhibition has developed an incredibly strong reputation over the years for showcasing the latest developments and innovation within the industry and I intend to use my experience to help build upon these firm foundations.”

Fran McIntyre, managing director of QD Events, said: “We are delighted that David has joined our team. His knowledge of fishing will prove invaluable in helping to deliver an exciting exhibition that will prove attractive to all sectors of the industry.”

Fishing 2011 will be staged from 24-26 March at the SECC in Glasgow. More details at
