Lobster Fishing Ban Implemented in Venezuela

VENEZUELA - A fishing ban for lobster has been implemented in Venezuela and will last until 31 October 2013.

The ban will allow time for the species to reproduce, therefore protecting the future of fishermen while sustainably managing the fishery.

During the ban, lobster capture will only be allowed for scientific research purposes only with the permission of Insopesca as well as the Ministry of Popular Power for the Environment (Minamb) if the activity is conducted in national parks and Areas Under Special Administration Regime ( Abrae).
