The anchovies are caught in the FAO 37 Northern Adriatic sea by Croatian artisanal fishing vessels using purse seines which cause no impact to the seabed.
The vessels use lampara - a lamp that attracts the anchovies to the surface. Sonar controls help spot anchovies which swim in single species shoals, thus no other species is bycaught in the process.
