The mission of IFEEDER, which is expected to be incorporated in May 2009, is to support educational and scientific research that addresses challenges facing the industry and develops opportunities for a sustainable, global feed industry, writes Anne Keller for AFIA.
The establishment of this foundation-type institute is subject to the finalizing of by-laws and the filing of those by-laws and articles of incorporation. IFEEDER will pursue IRS charity status under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.
Pledge cards were distributed at AFIA events last week, and initial pledges were received. The AFIA Board’s Foundation Task Force received business and personal pledges in excess of $100,000. Additional details about IFEEDER are being developed.
Task Force Chair Alan Gunderson of Vita Plus Corporation said: “I’m heartened by the proactive vision of the task force members during the time it took to establish IFEEDER. Their outstanding leadership pledges demonstrate their belief and commitment to IFEEDER’s objectives and purpose. This early support will be vital in attracting other pledges to help grow IFEEDER, while final details of operation and governance are completed. In the years to come, IFEEDER will be an integral partner in providing the total feed industry with critical educational programs and research funds for a sustainable future.”
