The products have a value of ISK 850 million and have been taken out of storage for shipping in the last week.
Fishing of mackerel and production onshore have gone very well recently with 8,300 tonnes, approximately half of the companys 15,600 tonnes quota, having already been caught.
According to Vilhjlmur Vilhjlmsson, head of department at HB Grandis pelagic division, overseas buyers waited until the second half of July before placing their orders, as they have the two preceding years, but sales are moving now, as demonstrated by the rapid shipments taking place at Vopnafjrdur.
Reefer vessel Silver Copenhagen was at Vopnafjrdur at the beginning of the week to load 1,400 tonnes of frozen products on Monday and Tuesday. Thursday, Silver Bergen was alongside for a further 1,200 tonnes of frozen products, while on Friday it was the turn of Havsand to dock for 1,200 tonnes of fishmeal.
According to Vilhjlmur Vilhjlmsson, production of a roughly 400 tonne landing by Ingunn AK was finished Thursday. After that, the factory was cleaned from top to bottom to take delivery of another 400 tonnes of mackerel that Lundey NS was due to dock with late Thursday night.

ICELAND - HB Grandis Vopnafjrdur factory has been a busy place over the last few days. In addition to regular landings by the companys pelagic vessels, both the factory and the fishmeal plant have been shipping out a total of 4,300 tonnes of products.
