The Award citation states that the award goes to the company which has outstanding achievement in production and sales of Icelandic seafood and for its lead in innovation in this field.
HB Grandi’s CEO Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson received the award, which was accompanied by a work of art by glass artist Sigrún Ólöf Einarsdóttir.
Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson took the opportunity in his speech to thank president, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, for a fine reception at the residence and for his kind words about the company and its workforce.
Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson said: "The decision ten years ago by the company’s owners to place marketing in the hands of the company’s own staff instead of with external marketing organisations, resulting in the establishment of our own marketing division, was an extremely fortuitous one. Nobody today has a single doubt about this decision."
"The 840 staff years behind last year’s approximate ISK30 billion in export revenue played a huge part in making this possible. There is no one position that is more important than any other. Quality awareness, excellent working practices and taking care of the value chain and the environment are all things that our staff keep constantly in mind and that is what has given us so many satisfied customers."
"It is a privilege to hear what our customers have to say about our products, paying us compliments that we hear far more of than the queries that we naturally take extremely seriously. Maintaining quality, care, product development and service to our customers is a task that never ends and which deserves our fullest and constant attention."
