Guaranteed Supply of Seafood in Mexico During Lent

MEXICO - The National Commissioner of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Mario Aguilar Snchez said the seafood supply is guaranteed for the whole country during Lent and Easter 2014.

The head of the National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries (CONAPESCA) said from Wednesday 5 March to 20 April, 250,000 tons of fishery and aquaculture products are expected.

It is predicted that this season consumer demand for seafood will increase nationwide, mainly in urban areas, Mr Aguilar Sanchez said.

He said that the most abundant species will be available, among which are: sardines, tuna, squid, crab, trout, catfish, tilapia, lebrancha, cojinuda, lisa , sierra and snook.

This is seafood that can be purchased in different markets and supply centers of the country at affordable prices, said the official.

The fish are all full of nutrients that are involved in the growth and development of our children, as it contains high quality protein, omega-3, minerals like calcium, iron, iodine, zinc and phosphorus and vitamins A, D and E, and B
