The Fisheries secretary Charles Ngugi announced that the plants have been built in the areas of Rongo, Imenti, Tetu and Lurambi, reports TheStar.
With farmers in mind, the storage facilities have been built to provide farmers with a place to store fish before they go to market.
Mr Ngugi told TheStar that farmers often have difficulties in finding markets to sell to and so a place to store fish where they will remain fresh is needed.
