UK - The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has announced that it will shortly be launching a Focus on Enforcement review looking at enforcement and compliance arrangements relating to coastal assets and coastal development.

This is the latest area in focus following the chemicals sector, small businesses in food manufacturing and volunteer events. BIS is inviting businesses and those interested in this area to begin giving feedback on the Focus on Enforcement website before the formal launch of the review.

The Focus on Enforcement website gives individuals and businesses the opportunity to suggest areas for review of compliance and enforcement arrangements, and to provide evidence on the areas in focus. The website also provides, for the first time, details on national regulators in one place and on regulatory functions carried out by local authorities.

BIS is focusing on different areas to remove unnecessary burdens on businesses while making sure that important protections provided by regulators continue. The emphasis of the review is on the way the regulation is delivered and complied with either through inspections, advice or enforcement not the regulations themselves. That is the purpose of The Red Tape Challenge.
