The price fall is mainly due to abundant catch as the seasonal fish migration towards the coast for reproduction helps netting fish without going into the deep sea.
Customers are swarming the fish market on the Corniche which operates from 7am to 12pm as abundant supply has reduced fish prices.
Saleh Mubarek Al Hajiri, supervisor of the market said that fish price has marked a steep fall.
Jassim Rustom, a fisherman said that the price fall in this season is higher compared to previous years. Another reason for the higher supply is the increase in the number of fishing boats going into the sea.
The price of the highly demanded hamour fish has come down from QR35 to between QR5 to QR7. Similarly the price of other varieties also came down much more below the usual prices.
