The legislative proposals are now submitted for approval by the next Council of Ministers of the EU, not necessarily fishing, which presumably will be held in Brussels on November 15.
Once the proposals are adopted by the Council of Ministers, the European Parliament will be moved for processing (the Development Committee has already issued a favorable opinion) . The vote in the Parliament Fisheries Committee will be held on 27 and 28 November and the plenary of the Parliament will vote in December.
Once past the processing stage in the Council, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment will continue to work with the European Parliament to get a quick approval of the fishing agreement, allowing the return to Moroccan waters of a hundred Spanish ships, which have been disrupted from their fishing activities since December 2011.
The Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Miguel Arias Cañete, has repeatedly stated that the Spanish government granted the "utmost importance to the new Fisheries Protocol between the European Union and the Kingdom of Morocco, so he is doing all efforts to ratify the European Parliament in plenary in December.
