They expect to sign several trade contracts and, at the same time, present the wide range of parallel activities that will be held in Vigo'09, some of them organized by the sector itself. The Fifth Fisheries Ministers Conference and the First World Summit on Fisheries Sustainability, strongly supported by the Spanish Ministry of the Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, will be the high points.
Many of the companies that will take part in this year's WFE are manufacturers of engines and propulsion equipment, and this is a remarkable fact at a moment in which the fishing industry is trying to find solutions to face the continued rise in fuel prices. Companies dedicated to electronic equipment and fish finding technology, aquaculture, nets and fishing equipment will also be present at the Exhibition. The organizers have confirmed the participation of many international companies and Italy, France, Faeroe Islands, United Kingdom, Cuba, Iceland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden will participate with national pavilions.
Furthermore, the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade has officially granted total international status to WFE-Vigo'09. This means that the Exhibition has been included in the Calendar of Trade Fairs and Exhibitions and exhibitors will benefit from customs duties and VAT exemption, among other advantages. What is more, all customs procedures and formalities will be given priority and will therefore be speeded up; including the guarantees submission (deposit or letter of guarantee) and the customs transit document.
The first Aqua Farming International will be held in parallel to the World Fishing Exhibition. AQA is celebrated in order to cover the demand of the aquaculture sector of Galicia, a leader community in the farming of mussel and turbot and endowed with a high technological and scientific level in this field.
The Band of the Welsh Guards, appearing by kind permission of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2nd, will participate once again in the World Fishing Exhibition. It has done so since 1985, parading at every event and through the streets of Vigo, Gondomar and A Coruña, offering their traditional and colourful splendour and festive atmosphere to Vigo and the Galician Community.
