The extension was sought following the persistently poor fishing conditions that had existed since the start of the commercial fishing season and where, in certain areas, commercial fishermen had not had the opportunity to reasonably catch salmon within their allocated quota.
The Salmon and Trout (Extension to draft nets season) Bye-Law No. 900, 2012 came into operation on 1 August 2012 extending the annual closed season for salmon and sea trout using a draft net until midnight on the 14 August 2012 in the following waters:
