Woolworths and Coles have set goals of having all their fresh seafood and own brand canned and frozen seafood, certified sustainable by the end of 2015.

Woolworth's noted that its wild-caught seafood range will be Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified by the end of 2015 and its canned tuna will be pole and line caught by the end of 2013.

For farmed seafood, Woolworth's aim to have all products certified to sustainable farming practices by credible third party certification schemes by 2015.

Coles is also working with the MSC to provide more Coles Brand seafood from certified sustainable fisheries.
