“Through the Fisheries Technology and New Opportunities Program, the Provincial Government is continuously supporting innovation and best practices in every facet of the provincial fishery. Our $10,000 investment to help Barry Group International achieve greater energy efficiency at its upgraded Anchor Point plant is significant, as energy use comprises 15 per cent of direct processing costs at most seafood plants,” said Keith Hutchings, Minster of Fisheries and Aquaculture.
Barry Group Incorporated has made significant investments this year to carry out renovations and install new cooking, sorting, chilling, and grading equipment at the processing facility. The company will complement these enhancements with an energy audit led by a mechanical and refrigeration engineering consultant to determine how to configure renovations and equipment to achieve the best use of energy at the facility.
“Barry Group Incorporated has made significant improvements at our Anchor Point facility, and our efforts to reduce energy costs will help us gain faster and greater returns on that investment, which in turn benefits our staff and the community.
