VIET NAM - According to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), in May 2014, the Ministry will recommend the Prime Minister to give more incentives for the fishery industry, particularly offshore fishing activities.

This aims to bring higher economic efficiency, facilitate fishermen in offshore fishing, help them raise their income and protect the national security and sovereignty, reports VASEP.

The fisheries industry is a potential economic sector. Accordingly, the Prime Minister requested MARD to cooperate with relevant ministries to establish the preferential policies for the industry, assisting fishermen to continue their offshore fishing activities.

MARD is implementing the programme on supporting fishermen in building steel vessels, installing satellite equipment for over 3,000 fishing boats and organising fishing groups to boost mutual help among fishermen at sea.?
