Total Icelandic Catch Increased in July

ICELAND - The total catch of Icelandic vessels in July 2013 was 101,444 tonnes compared to 113,051 tonnes in July 2012, reports Statistics Iceland.

Demersal species accounted for 27,000 tonnes, thereof cod 13,000 tonnes, haddock 1,700 tonnes, redfish 4,000 tonnes and saithe 5,000 tonnes.

The pelagic catch was 70,900 tonnes, thereof herring 8,900 tonnes and mackerel 61,800 tonnes.

At constant prices the volume of the catch increased by 0.8 per cent in July 2013 compared with July 2012.
