Ten New Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Projects Available

CHILE - More than 700 million pesos has been made available for 10 new projects in the field of fisheries and aquaculture research.

The Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca), through the Fund for Fisheries Research and Aquaculture (IFAP), launched its fourth call for public bidding for the 10 projects.

The new projects include the proposed "evaluation of biomass and state of exploitation of natural grasslands of brown algae in open access areas in the regions of Arica Parinacota, Tarapaca and Antofagasta" with an investment of 120 million.

The aim of this project is to determine the levels of abundance and exploitation of lessonia berteroana, lessonia trabeculata and Macrocystis Pyrifera in the northern territory.

Another of the projects looks at the development of small-scale aquaculture AMERB in the Magallanes Region. This project is tendered by 100 million pesos and aims to recognise the appropriate area for aquaculture in austral country.
