The contract, worth RM2 million, is aimed to raise fish production to 180 tonnes a mont by the end of 2010, according to a report on Bernama.
This is the first cooperative programme for the aquaculture company with the department of fisheries. The company wants to allow entrepreneurs to run their own fish farms.
The contract farming scheme will train people in fish farmingover a six month period, according to the report.
The initial farms will be on a30 hectare siteat Sungai Como in Kenyir Lake.
The company wants to open another 70 hectare farme as well.
The shortlist of candidates for teh farming project will be drawn up in January next year, with training starting in February.
