After several unsuccessful attempts to identify and rectify the problem it was decided to implement our emergency back-up procedures and move everything to our standby "warm" back-up server. Unfortunately this process took a couple of hours to implement during which the web sites were unaccessible.
We are currently investigating what caused this problem (most likely a hardware failure) and would like to apologise to everyone for the inconvenience the outage might have caused.
This is the first major outage we have experienced in the 10 years since we launched our initial site, ThePigSite.com, and we will be making every effort to ensure this does not happen again.
