Switzerland to Support Shrimp Sector Development in Bangladesh - SWITZERLAND - The Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) has agreed to carry out an international certified organic shrimp aquaculture in Bangladesh.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday between the Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association and the SIPPO.
The Swiss organisation will be involved in training farmers and processors for producing organic shrimp in Bangladesh. It will also make necessary contracts for imports in Switzerland and the European Union to promote organic products of Bangladesh.
With the implementation of this project, Bangladesh could earn a premium price of about 25 per cent higher compared to the present price. The SIPPO has also taken a project of organic shrimp farming in Vietnam.
The MoU was signed by Association president Monirul Haq and SIPPO project manager Thomas Sporrer.
