According to some figures submitted by the National Customs Service, the salmon industry exported 109.5 million from the 10th Region in November and counted for 54 per cent of that region’s exports in the period (USD 199 million), reports FishFarmingXpert.
Moreover, this territory represents 81 per cent of the Chilean salmon exports; while the 11th Region (Aysén) counts for 15 per cent of those sales; the VIII Region (Bío Bío) represents three per cent; and the 12th Region (Magallanes) stands for the remaining one per cent.
In terms of markets, the main trade partners for the 10th Region are still Japan (47 per cent of the exports) and USA (15 per cent).
Strong Ties With Salmon
CHILE - The Chilean salmon industry exported nearly US$ 135.6 million in November this year maintaining its position as the main economical activity in the 10th Region (Los Lagos) in spite of the hard times that this sector has faced over the last couple of years.
