She is the first member of Congress to receive the award, which she accepted during the 74th annual Delta Council meeting held earlier this month. Sen Lincoln also served as keynote speaker at the event.
“I’m honoured to receive this award because of the light it shines on the aquaculture community,” said Sen Lincoln.
“Arkansas’s $167 million aquaculture industry has an economic impact of over $1.2 billion in our state. Fish farms frequently are some of the largest businesses in our Delta communities, and it’s critical that this industry continue to receive the support and resources it needs to keep our local economies strong.”
The award is given each year to an individual who serves the aquaculture community and has a significant impact on its activities. Past recipients include leading scientists, farmers, and U.S. Department of Agriculture officials.
The selection committee for the award is comprised of feed mill operators, processing plant managers, and farming representatives.
