From 2018 and the following years fishing in the Chinchorro bank will be banned during the entire month of February and from 1 May till the 30 November.
Based on a technical review by the National Fisheries Institute, it was concluded that it is necessary to temporarily stop fishing for white or pink conch (Strombus gigas) in Banco Chinchorro, Quintana Roo, in order to not jeopardise the reproductive processes of the species.
