In the first stage of this project, researchers at the Regional Center for Fisheries Research INAPESCA in Patzcuaro, previously trained by specialists from the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) - made oyster assessments to verify the geographic location, abundance of organisms and the existence species with potential for cultivation in the coastal strip of this entity.
By fishery biology studies, the researchers determined the spawning season, through larval sampling to establish the date of installation of the collectors. Also, the recruitment period, spatial and bathymetric distribution of the seed will be verified.
Additionally, the effect of collector types in fixing organisms analysed.
With the transfer of technology developed by the UABC fattening and applied by the INAPESCA, the fisheries sector will benefit by having the opportunity to diversify their activities.
