Fire damage to oyster farms includes loss of oyster racks, baskets, barges and boats, land based infrastructure including sheds, tractors, tanks and essential power sources, reports ABCRural.

Executive officer of Oysters Tasmania, Dr Tom Lewis is collating the extent of damage to oyster farms against offers of replacement materials. For offers of help, Oysters Tasmania can be contacted on 0458601057.

He told ABCRural that at this stage stock in the water should survive but this depends on the weather as rain runoff could have a devasting impact.
