The water treatment solutions company has signed a contract to outfit two aquaculture vessels with its technology. Whilst the identity of the customer remains unknown, the contract has been reported to be worth over NOK 20 million.
“We have delivered our water treatment technologies to more than 800 vessels worldwide and more than 30 systems for water treatment on board live fish carriers, so this is a well-known segment for us," said Børge Gjelseth, senior vice-president at Norwegian Greentech.
The company, which is well-established as a supplier of systems for ballast water purification has also begun to make a name for itself as a provider of water treatment systems for the land-based aquaculture industry - a sector of growing significance globally.
"[Our] technology can also be applied to land-based aquaculture, which is why it is encouraging to see increased activity in the maritime industry and within land-based aquaculture,” Gjelseth concluded.
