Necrotising Hepatopancreatitis Outbreak Reported in Belize

BELIZE - An outbreak of necrotising hepatopancreatitis has been reported on a shrimp farm in Placencia, South Stann Creek, Belize.

In total, of the 53,000 Pacific white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) susceptible, 322 cases were reported. The outbreak led to the death of all 53,000 shrimp as a precaution.

The source of the outbreak is unknown.
