Berthet is director of fish and seafood for M&J Seafood. A qualified chef with 30-plus years of seafood experience, Berthet represents M&J on sustainability issues and ensures that the company’s passion and commitment to responsibly sourced seafood is maintained.
“Having worked in the fish and seafood foodservice industry in the UK for more than 30 years, I consider it a great privilege to be asked to join the GAA board,” said Berthet. “I look forward to helping with what ever input I can give, to further the GAA and its quest to bring all aquaculture into an ecological, ethical, sustainable and sound certifiable footing for the future benefit of all.”

M&J Seafood is the United Kingdom’s largest independent seafood supplier, offering the largest range of fresh and frozen seafood to more than 12,000 chefs nationwide. M&J Seafood grew organically to become the UK’s largest independent seafood supplier by the 1990s and is now a member of Europe’s largest foodservice company, the Brakes Group.
The company’s customer base includes restaurants, hotels, pubs, contract caterers, education and quick-service restaurants as well as fishmongers and other wholesalers.
There are 20 members of the GAA board of directors. Each member serves a two-year term.
