According to DailyComet, the money was included in an Agriculture Appropriations Bill that passed the U.S. Senate Tuesday.
The money will pay for ongoing aquaculture research into crawfish harvesting technology, examine genetic improvements of cultured finfish, develop a baitfish industry, and refine fish nutrition and feeding practices, reports the news organisation. It will also pay for research aimed at protecting cultured aquatic species from disease and developing new aquaculture food products and waste byproducts.
