Government Distributes Over 70,000 Pacu Fingerlings in Tachira

VENEZUELA - A total of 77,500 Pacu fingerlings have been released this year by the Socialist Institute of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Insopesca) in the Leonardo Ruiz Pineda Hydroelectric Complex, Presa La Honda, located in the municipality Uribante, Tachira state.

The activity was carried out under the Reforestation Project covering reservoirs and ponds being conducted by the institute which was completed in two phases.

The first stage in July saw the planting of 32,500 fingerlings and the second stage in August saw an additional 45,000 being added.

This action seeks to benefit the population residing in the vicinity of the dam, who harvest the species for subsistence farming.
