Fisheries, Aquaculture Sector to be Developed to Meet Food Demand

MEXICO - The Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food, Francisco Mayorga Castaeda, said that one of the main aims is the construction of a more modern and competitive fisheries and aquaculture sector, in order to meet the growing demand for food for the Mexican population.

Legal reforms that took place in the administration on fisheries, and regionalisation of the branch offices and decentralisation of the Institute National Fisheries (INAPESCA), aims to build a sector ready to face the challenges related to food, consumption, safety, marketing, information systems, standardisation, financing and sustainability, among others
