Closer Ties for Papua New Guinea and Viet Nam

PAPUA NEW GUINEA - The leader of Papua New Guinea has called for bilateral ties with Vietnam, particularly in mining, energy, agriculture and aquaculture.

Governor-General Paulias Matane was speaking after a meeting with the Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Huu Dung this week.

The governor-general said the two sides should exchange delegation visits and sign an agreement on economic, scientific, technological and commercial cooperation.

The Vietnamese Ambassador also had meetings with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.

During their meetings, the Papua New Guinea officials said they want the two countries to exchange visits by entrepreneurs to explore markets and possibilities for cooperation, particularly in trade, agriculture, forestry and aquaculture.
