Twenty-four artisanal fishermen organizations in the Los Lagos region will receive a total of $139,735,002.
These resources will implement a variety of projects, all with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of the sector and advancing the diversification of production.
Some of the projects include the purchase of equipment to improve buoyancy and anchoring systems so as to ensure production yields; the purchase of safety equipment to meet the requirements of the Maritime Authority; Modular building premises for sale of products; and investment in equipment for the installation of collectors that would ensure the production of seed mussels, among others.
The Undersecretary of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Raul Súnico, said that each of these projects aims to make an impact in the artisanal fisheries sector by improving management processes, production and trade.
"What we want, and what we are committed to as a government, is to increase the competitiveness of the sector, transforming it into a source of self-sustaining economic and productive progress, empowering artisanal fishing organizations and their foundations as key players in growth. Therefore, we will continue funding such initiatives," stressed the fishing authority.
Resources match contributions from the National Fund for Regional Development GORE Los Lagos the period 2015 and 2016, which were transferred to the Fund Administration Fisheries, FAP, in the framework of the Promotion and Development of Artisanal Fisheries in the region.
This initiative includes 92 projects for implementation with a total investment of 700 million pesos, resources that will be delivered progressively over the coming months.
