Average Price Of Salmon Increases

CHILE - The average price of salmon exports in October 2009 was US$ 5,421/tonne, representing an 8.9 per cent increase compared to the same period of the last year.

According to Fishfarmingxpert.com, the local salmon industry has exported US$ 1,758 million as of October this year, showing a 13.5 per cent decrease compared to the same period of the last year. Likewise, the sector exported 25,611 tonnes in October, representing a 33 per cent decrease compared to October 2008.

October’s exports itemised by product show 15,328 tonnes (60 per cent) of frozen salmon; and 4,975 tonnes (19 per cent) of fresh-refrigerated salmon; while the remaining 21 per cent correspond to other product lines.
