Auction Takes Place for New Aquaculture Sites in Brazil

BRAZIL - The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Attila Maia Rocha is launching bidding documents for new areas of aquaculture in Bahia and Pernambuco.

Altogether, the areas may expand aquaculture production by 4284.8 tons and 4776.5 tons per year in Bahia and Pernambuco respectively.

In the state of Bahia, aquaculture sites will be auctioned in the Bay of All Saints (production of native oysters), the São Francisco River (tilapia) and HPP reservoir Moxotó (tilapia).

In the state of Pernambuco sites will be auctioned in the areas of Itaparica dam and also in HPP reservoir Moxotó for tilapia production.

The authorization / assignment of use of areas tendered will be valid for 20 years.
