This figure finds that they are meeting the objectives of the Andalusian Strategy for the Development of Marine Aquaculture for 2014-2020, which envisages tripling production in this period.
The significant increase in production is mainly due to the fact that yields of major dominant species like sea bream, sea bass, tuna, mussels and even shrimp, almost doubled.
Also in 2015, the Andalusian aquaculture sector sold 10,671 tons of products obtained in the fattening stage.
Fish production is the most important activity of marine aquaculture.
Last year, fish production accounted for 75 per cent of the total tonnage sold and 94 per cent of economic value.
Molluscs came second with a production of 22 per cent, and crustaceans are placed third with 2.21 per cent.
Algae represents only 0.06 per cent of the tonnage, but 1.16 per cent of the regional aquaculture billing.
Within the group of fish, sea bass is the most significant, representing 61.5 per cent of the total, followed by gold (19.9 per cent) and bluefin tuna (13.8 per cent).
With regard to shellfish farming, the highest is the mussel production, covering 95.3 per cent.
