The objective of this measure is to ensure that the species can retain their reproductive cycles while maintaining sustainable levels in artisanal fisheries.

In addition, steps have been taken to make sure capture is regulated. First, octopus fishing is exclusive to artisanal maritime workers.

The fish caught must not weigh less than 400 grams and the producer must report to Insopesca monthly.

It is a priority of the Bolivarian Government to keep fishing within sustainable levels.
