UK - The unexpected collapse of British Seafood has presented the company with an opportunity to set up a UK based Seafood Trading Company, Towers Thompson Seafood Ltd, which will complement their German Seafood business, Rassau Seafood GmbH, based in Hamburg.

Towers Thompson specialises in the import, export and distribution of chilled, frozen and cooked meats and poultry. In addition, the group also sources and distributes a wide variety of fish, seafood, vegetables, dairy products and convenience foods.

In March 2007, the group purchased a seafood import and distribution company called Rassau Seafood GmbH (Hamburg) from Maple Leaf Toronto.

The new company, Towers Thompson Seafood Ltd, will be headed up by Nick Wilson (Managing Director) and Jason Letch (Sales Director) who are supported by an experienced team who were previously part of Bloomsbury International Limited (a British Seafood subsidiary).

Towers Thompson Seafood will initially focus predominantly on the import and distribution of cod, haddock, plaice, pangasius, yellow fin sole, squid, salmon and prawns.

TT Seafood will be working closely with both new and existing suppliers and customers as well as collaborating with Rassau to maximise their buying power and ensure that they have continued access to a wide range of products to enable them to meet their customer’s exacting requirements.

TT Seafood has already established an exclusive agreement for the supply of top quality single frozen IQF Fish Fillets and portions from Murmansk. Their quality control team is already in place overseeing the production of the first containers which are destined for the UK market.
