The implementation of the Control Regulation, the reform of the Common Fisheries Policy and the Mediterranean fishery management were discussed at the meeting.
The ministers also analysed the management of resources of mutual interest (particularly hake and mackerel) and fisheries agreements with third countries. Cooperation in the framework of Regional Fisheries Organisations such as the IOTC, ICCAT and the GFCM were also on the adgenda.
Those responsible for fisheries administrations of both countries agreed to a meeting in the near future to discuss, in greater depth, issues related to the control of fisheries, on the basis of bilateral agreement on cooperation in fisheries inspection.
It was also agreed in the future to accelerate the granting of licenses to the Spanish fishing fleet to fish in Mayotte and to support efforts for the renewal of fisheries agreements in the EU, notably with Morocco and Mauritania, as well as redirect the agreement bilateral anchovy.
Spain & France Discuss Fisheries Management
SPAIN and FRANCE - The Secretary General of Fisheries, Carlos Dominguez met in Madrid with a delegation from the French Fisheries Management, headed by the Director of Marine Fisheries and Aquaculture, Philippe Maugin, in order to discuss fisheries management issues and bilateral cooperation.
